War is obsolete

We can now take care of everybody at a higher standard of living than anybody has ever known. It does not have to be “you or me,” so selfishness is unnecessary and war is obsolete. This has never been done before.” -Buckminster Fuller, 1981

Last Thursday, Justin Trudeau said he was urging the UN Security Council to investigate and find out exactly who used the chemical weapons in Syria last week. He said we should find out, and he was right. The Syrian military said it wasnt them. Russia said it wasnt them.

That night, Donny Trump launches a bunch of missiles at a Syrian military base anyway. Some hit the target, some dont….hitting elsewhere and causing major fucking damage.  Civilians killed. He did this even though it’s officially undetermined who made the initial chemical attacks.  Some people believe it was actually instigated and funded by the US to give them an excuse to start bombing shit. History has shown, it’s not impossible to imagine this. So maybe Trump did know after all.

Friday, Justin Lie-deau said he fully supports Trump in his action. WTF, dude.  You’re really living up to your sentiments that you’re happy to relinquish Canada’s progress to falling “in line” with whatever everyone else is doing.  Did you have a nice few days in New York City last week? I’m sure they’re treating you well. So disappointed in this guy. He could have been a hero on the right side of history. Or maybe he was just a groomed shill from the start.

AND WTF MAINSTREAM MEDIA!? People are trusting you to tell them the truth of the matter.  Instead, almost every media outlet is celebrating the perpetuating of circumstances that ALWAYS result in children dying.  The message being that this is some form of justice.

This really pisses me off.

I urge you to read some truth about whats really happening in Syria.

From the Intercept, this is Glenn Greenwald

From truthdig.com, this is Chris Hedges

Here are some photos of Syria before they dropped the US dollar and basically renounced being involved with Unites States ten years ago. (coincidence?) What did the US have to say about that? They knowingly armed an extremist-dominated insurgency to weaken the Syrian government, which prolonged the war in that country and strengthened ISIS and Al Qaeda.

Syria today

Chemical attack.
My heart goes out to the families of those 11 children who were lost and to everyone else who survived or had loved ones who perished in #Syria today. I feel like my anonymous white tax dollars have paid to make those rebels in one way or another. I am so ashamed, and only wish I could communicate my apology to those who suffer. Even though the state broadcaster CBC celebrates Canada for “ranking 23/28 lowest spender in NATO!” …STILL MEANS Canada is a part of NATO!! The world’s largest and best-funded terrorist organization. At that, there are still 5 countries who spend less. Oh “canada”! The so-called peace-keeping (so-called nation) HAT-of-America managed to spend ooooonly 20 billion dollars last year on war. Shame on those decision makers. Shame on the status quo. Shame on the tax-evading business-criminals. That footage of the children gasping for air should be on your conscience to.

Sanders Panders?

facebook controversies over this pic:

Here’s my one-sided account:

I’m really glad Bernie Sanders was talking “down” about Monsanto. They are a company that uses their media ties and copious revenue to continue veiling horrible, obsolete, practices. I find it very likely that threat occurred. It’s happened before, why couldn’t it happen again? Seems legit that in this sensitive election period, he wouldn’t want to pick a fight by talking about it.

It’s logical to think genetically modified (in the general sense) is SAFE forcrissake, we all eat apples and modern versions of food humans have messed with. The people of America (not only Virginia) want to know in the grocery store: has Round Up has been sprayed on this? Did it come from a petroleum-soaked mono-crop? Is a continent going to lose its bee population because of my purchase right now?

I recently saw a good quote from a farmer that was something like “Let me call my product “food” and they can call theirs “chemical food”

If Bernie Sanders is trying to appease people’s desire to address the SUPER-FUCKED-UP MONSANTO MONO-CROP RACKET….then isn’t he only doing exactly what an elected representative is supposed to do? It’s not the just the organic “industry” of his home state…  it’s many people over many states because it involves the entire scope of how people eat (kind of a big deal). Of course it’s infinitely complicated and the information is constantly at odds because the players are family farmers against media-owning companies (no conspiracies! Legit business).

I’ve never heard “anti-science” used outside of a religious base.  To elude that [geoengineering], [petro-poison], and [people who don’t believe in preventative pharmaceutical use] are connected in having an agenda against science…. is nonsensical to me.

Hiring government professionals to represent us, apparently

Are we still referring to “left-center-right” positioning?  Whatever the definitions are for the motives behind each categorical “-ism” on the mythical scale is so skewed and individually interpreted anyway, that it doesn’t make sense to refer left and right anymore.  In fact, adhering to this binary illusion only limits our perception of what has happened, and what is possible.    Abandoning this language in favour of simple truths is what I strive to spread around. In fact, why not try to use unconventional language to re-frame and better define what the hell we’re all talking about here? The only consequence is education and understanding.

So, it’s as simple as this: conscious evolution VS. destruction. Period. Enough time has gone by. Now is when this massive shift has to occur.

Does democracy sound good? Do we want to achieve a functioning democracy? Because what we’ve had so far is deep-rooted disgusting plutocracy.  And let’s not forget the (plutocratic government-funded) CBC provides just enough satire and tidbit “information” to create the illusion and reinforce the myths that make it seem like what we have is working.

I look at it this way: if a government professional is forced to vote the same as her party leader, instead of acting on behalf of the people who voted her in, that is not democracy. As we’ve seen happen in the case of the NDP,  she cannot even voice criticism towards outrageous warring (like in Isreal)!  No. This is not for me. Any party that upholds practices like that, are obviously only interested in upholding the plutocracy that is ruining everything for everyone…everywhere.

Last night I watched a great documentary by Tom Shadyac, the guy behind Ace Ventura, Evan Almighty, the Nutty Professor, and other huge hollywood movies.  The movie included lots of cool behind the scenes shots from his life with movie stars, and also included lots of great interviews with names like Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. It’s called I Am and it’s on Canadian Netflix now.  It’s worth a watch.

Grateful abundance

In this part of the world, we move through various seasons of change, and every year at this time, we’re showered in food. Literally.  I narrowly escaped an onslaught of pears falling all around me from the arching heavens.

For example, this picture was taken yesterday:

DSCF9975

A huge bag of apples filling the sink, tri-coloured potatoes, onions, shallots, tomatoes, green beans, blackberries, and figs.

All of this food was incidentally gathered or harvested for free.  Not pictured are the other dozens of figs, bags of pears, and bunches of seedless concord grapes which I literally followed my nose to collecting from a vine that stretched over a public sidewalk . We did not need to buy groceries at all this week.

I dwell on thoughts of “why me? And why not them?” referring to my planetary brothers and sisters who are starving. Near, far, wherever. It’s completely unnecessary.  It always makes me think about Buckminster Fuller and his famously rational point  that the technology exists now where everyone can just have everything they ever need or want. We just need to take the power back to do it.

I think about this as I drink my carrot/apple/ginger juice, and spread goat cheese on a fresh fig.  Pairing boozy over ripe blackberries with hunks of smelly parmesan. Popping tiny concord grapes into my mouth rivaling the flavour of every grape freezie I’ve ever had. Everyone should have this. It’s a crime that my privilege has taken me to this place of literally having too much food to eat. Circumstance, or incarnation, or privilege or whatever the cause.   Yesterday, hauling 4 dozen figs away from my friends backyard, I felt rich.  Like I had a loaded bank account, and nothing could stop me. I feel the same way whenever I collect kale seeds.

I receive these blessings and emit in return a positive radiation sent to those who aren’t afforded such wealth.  I hope they feel it.

I started this post initially to brag about all the delicious stuff I get to consume and share and prepare for my family. In a way I have done that still, but I cannot quiet my heart when it hollers out “RICH WHITE GIRL. Don’t even think of adding to the interwebz barrage of unvalidated bragging without acknowledging from whence it came.”

Now that I’ve got it off my chest, I suppose…

This week: growlers of apple juice, berries (on, in, with) everything, tomatoes in the freezer, and bags of basil for pesto-making.  Oh, and grapes. Grapes grapes grapes grapes. The kind of grapes that flavouring tries to taste like, but to no comparable avail.
