Those who don’t vote, are still actually voting

I saw a great quote from a guy David Foster Wallace about how our governing has been.
He said “If you are bored or disgusted by politics (like Russell Brand described as reflexive impotence) and you don’t bother to vote, you are in effect voting for the entrenched establishments of the major parties” (of which there is no difference whatsoever)

He said “Rest assured they are not dumb. They are aware it is in their interests to keep you disgusted and bored and cynical. By all means stay home on voting day if you want, but don’t bullshit yourself that you’re not voting.” He’s talking about the effect mainstream media has on the masses.

In reality there is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by going and doing it, or you vote by not going. If you don’t vote, the establishment wins. The establishment that is the root and cause of basically all suffering and harm. That’s right. I’m talking about the corporate rulers. The entire machine that maintains our destructive consumerist ways, and inhibits the progress of natural wild harmony.

There is only one organization I trust to begin undoing all of the damage done.

….and guess what?! EVERYONE’S GONNA VOTE FOR THEM. Kind of like that time in grade 9, at my high school, a rumour went around that at exactly 3:33, every student was gonna drop his/her pen on the floor. All morning and lunch, this went around by word of mouth. Sure enough, the time came and a thousand pens and pencils hit the floor.
The resulting sound of a thousand pencils being dropped, and the consequential bewildered look on the teachers faces was worth the cross-clique co-operation. THIS WILL BE JUST LIKE THAT! Only the results will improve life for everyone on the planet, just like Bucky said we could.

If we want major change, we all must vote green and nothing else. If we do that, and do our part to pass along the rumour, we can effectively take the money out of politics, and save the lands for our great granddaughters.

These are my views about “Strategic voting”:

The idea is to vote for whoever is higher in “the polls” come election time. The tactic here is that by voting for the lesser of evils, we can be rid of Steven Harper’s Government. It was the tactic 4 years ago, right? Well, it didn’t work. Cannot do same and expect different. That’s the definition of insanity. I refuse to act out of fear, and participate in any further insanity here. Enough time has gone by. Let’s have a look at the lynchpin of this conversation in the first place: polls.

Can we just think about what those are for a second? Some graphics on the tv screen? A facebook poll of a fraction of voting population? Colour saturation of plastic bag signs? Your conversations with others?

The variables for botched conduction *and botched interpretation of poll results* are too many for me to trust. And besides, “polls” have just as much influence as an actual vote does…the strategic voter admits. That tells me something about what game we’re all playing here, a rigged one. The playing board is rigged media. Media that has been proven to be almost always slanted fantastical musings of rich white men.

I hope you aren’t missing our Green point: it’s OK to vote according to your actual values this year! No need to compromise your trust by voting for a party of lesser evil. If you feel fed up with this mad paradigm and want lasting real change, the good news is you can actually vote for the *ONLY* one that is really saying “ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP.” The word is out, and the rumour is…… we’re all gonna do it. All at the same time and place…… by voting for the green party candidate in each of our ridings polling stations later this year.

My friend, Paul

Dear Paul,

Thank you for moving forward with the Green Party. Today when you publicly announced that you seek a nomination at the AGM next Monday, I feel relief and hope. Finally! Someone I can trust in politics! Voting, government, and democracy requires attention being paid by ALL citizens of whichever nation all of these words effect.

This is the key: it’s not about “splitting any votes”…it’s about gathering the REST OF THE VOTERS WHO AREN’T VOTING. Only one third of people give a shit enough to play the funny little game with live CPAC coverage.  Two thirds of us know it’s a game, and it is rigged!  Paul wants to call-out all the shenanegans.

A healthy “nation”, happy populations, and harmonious relationship to Earth’s nature IS POSSIBLE NOW!!!! It takes EVERYONE CARING, and everyone really DOES care, it’s just that maybe some  can’t recognize it yet. Like, two thirds of us “canadians”.

Through his film making, Paul’s already helped people recognize how much they actually do care. You saw what happened during Occupy’s first wave of dissonance! And Idle No More! Paul was right there with us! With Paul’s influence in Parlaiment, he’ll help to reform a system that is so broken.

You guys,  I feel like it’s all going to happen, and it will be just as Buckminster Fuller said: everyone on Earth can be happy and healthy. That part is my hope.   This is how I feel.  And this is where my feeling of obligation motivates me. The benefit to my son and his daughter and hers after that is what motivates me.  I’m so glad to sit on the Electoral District Association next month for the new riding of Green Party of Canada – Nanaimo Ladysmith because certainly I can help with SOMETHING so I had better start doing it (you can, too).

Anyway. Thanks again, Paul.

Stephen Harper is supposed to have been impeached as the Prime Minister of Canada

He cheated BIG TIME in both elections.

Understanding that it is 100% in the collective best interest to:

1. Actually have scientific data available for future use.

2. Have strong social programs that support veterans, students, patients, seniors, those born with illness etc.

3. Protect citizen rights and freedom.

4. Not support industry that uses slave labor in place of local jobs.

5. Support a national effort to ween society OFF Of those products.

6. Strengthen environmental protection (which we need more than anything. Because according to thousands of peer-reviewed science and fact-based evidence, climate change is fucking up the weather FOR EVERYONE)

Enough pain and suffering.

Understand that it’s no mystery anymore how to achieve the global arrival at happiness and peace for all living things on our planet. We need to stop what we’ve been doing, and change it. Otherwise, human life on Earth will cease. We must actually give a shit about our future generations. The technology is there already. All of it.

Q: Where will we ever get the money to do all that, Ashta?  A: By halting the subsidies that are given to harmful practises, which is in the billions of billions of billions of dollars. Oh, and not “misplace” billions like the conservatives have done. They’ve lied, cheated, stolen, and hurt enough.

Someone I know said, “If not Stephen Harper’s Conservatives, than who?” My answer would be: anyone who’s willing to unabashedly make all that stuff a reality.  Likely that’s the Green Party.

Justin Trudeau responds to my question about replacing fossil fuels

Justin Trudeau visited the Port Theatre in Nanaimo on March 15th. VIU campus radio CHLY 101.7 FM was there along with sister campus media The Navigator Newspaper.  Here’s my own summary of how this short conversation went:

I ask “What’s your plan for replacing fossil fuels with renewable energies?” He responds by telling me that Canada needs two things:

To not sit back and wait.
To move beyond fossil fuels in time with everyone else.

Hmmmm, okay. Those two things totally contradict each other, and neither of them answer my question at all. I have to ask it again! What is your personal plan, Justin??

Invest money in the science to replace fossil fuel usage with renewable energy.

It’s a good thing Annelise joins in, because she points out: “All the science and technology already exists.”  Apparently, Justin knows this already, and says so with reluctance to continue this conversation, looking away, and begging others with his eyes for someone else to please ask a different question…

It does, indeed.

Annelise closes the sell by asking for commitment. “Are you gonna give us a done deal?” At this point, the man is so desperate to leave this topic that he clumsily mumbles an empty Shakespearean oath:

I will beget it done.

Snuneymuxw Chief Doug White sings a welcome prayer inside the Port Theatre to welcome Justin Trudeau to Nanaimo on March 15th 2013. Trudeau spoke to those who gathered inside the lobby of the Port Theatre, but did not address any questions until a planned “media scrum” in front of Nanaimo’s Harbour Basin. Host of CHLY’s Sweet and Sour Variety Hour Ashta asks “What is your plan for replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy?”

Justin: “We need to make sure the money coming in from our reliance on fossil fuels right now is invested towards….uh…..towards….uh…. encouraging renewables. Whether it be solar, whether it be wind, whether it be unto for discovered technologies, we have to make sure that Canada is not sitting back and hoping that we, uh, can profit as much from our fossil fuels before someone figures it out and we have to make sure we are figuring out how to move beyond fossil fuels in, uh, you know, time with everyone else.”

Ashta: “Your personal plan, though? Like, if you…”

Justin: “Investment in research and innovation and science, and uh, weening people off uh, fossil fuels as much as we can. It’s uh… it’s uh… it’s y’know, it’s gonna be a big job, but it’s one that I know Canadians are ready for.”

Annelise: “Are you gonna push for it? Are you gonna push for that?”

Justin: “Yes! I will be pushing for that”

Annelise: “Because all the science and research and technology is there.”

Justin: “It is, indeed”

Annelise: “We need a guy like you to say ‘It’s done’.”

Ashta: “Yeah!”

Annelise: “Are you gonna give us a done deal?”

Justin: “I will beget it done.”
