  • Rockabilly Women

Wikipedia describes rockabilly music as one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music, dating back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the South. As a genre it blends the sound of Western and R&b and a blend of bluegrass with rock and roll. Other important influences on rockabilly include western swing, boogie woogie, jump blues, and electric blues.[5]

  • Non-Stop All-Request Solstice

Tuesday night, Abigail Lapell played her music in The White Room in Nanaimo, BC. It was the longest day of the year, and when the show wrapped up at 9:50pm, the sky was still very bright. The last of its reflections on Turtle Island for this “day”. Our planet rockets like a boomerang slingshot around that fireball sun, and now the days become shorter with every passing one. What a trip.

Today’s program moves through a number of different sounds without any talking breaks whatsoever. A whole hour of non-stop music for your little ear holes. Many of these artists were selected by a random cross-section of sidewalk loiterers (outside The White Room, incidentally), and it was up to me to put it all together and in a coherent order. I hope you enjoy!
