Justin Trudeau Visits Nanaimo Episode

The Prime Minister of Canada is hosting a town hall meeting this Friday, February 2nd 2018  at former Malaspina College campus (VIU). He hopes to conveniently comment and answer safe  questions about the farce that is our current consumer capitalist economy (of course based on valueless made-up fiat currency) and our meager citizen slavery positions within it (jobs). How nice. Last time he was here, however, I was the first one to ask him a question in the corralled “media scrum” and I made sure it was a tough one. Hopefully he remembers that Nanaimo doesn’t fuck around. Fast forward to the final 2 minutes of today’s episode of the Sweet and Sour Variety Hour to hear it (from 2013).  The first half hour of the program is a re-broadcast of my most treasured 80’s songs for your listening delight, followed by a brand new episode from The Real News Network about how the canadian government doesnt give a shit about toxic tailings ponds.

This is the program file, airing liveat 8am PST on Wed. Jan. 31 2018

Ashta asks Trudeau a question in 2013

If I could ask Mr. Trudeau a question now, I would want to know what news outlets he regards. Particularly, does he consume independent listener-supported media like Democracy Now and TRNN? Or only commercial media conglomerates? Through what filters is he learning about the world?

“Why did you ask me that?”

Sanders Panders?

facebook controversies over this pic:

Here’s my one-sided account:

I’m really glad Bernie Sanders was talking “down” about Monsanto. They are a company that uses their media ties and copious revenue to continue veiling horrible, obsolete, practices. I find it very likely that threat occurred. It’s happened before, why couldn’t it happen again? Seems legit that in this sensitive election period, he wouldn’t want to pick a fight by talking about it.

It’s logical to think genetically modified (in the general sense) is SAFE forcrissake, we all eat apples and modern versions of food humans have messed with. The people of America (not only Virginia) want to know in the grocery store: has Round Up has been sprayed on this? Did it come from a petroleum-soaked mono-crop? Is a continent going to lose its bee population because of my purchase right now?

I recently saw a good quote from a farmer that was something like “Let me call my product “food” and they can call theirs “chemical food”

If Bernie Sanders is trying to appease people’s desire to address the SUPER-FUCKED-UP MONSANTO MONO-CROP RACKET….then isn’t he only doing exactly what an elected representative is supposed to do? It’s not the just the organic “industry” of his home state…  it’s many people over many states because it involves the entire scope of how people eat (kind of a big deal). Of course it’s infinitely complicated and the information is constantly at odds because the players are family farmers against media-owning companies (no conspiracies! Legit business).

I’ve never heard “anti-science” used outside of a religious base.  To elude that [geoengineering], [petro-poison], and [people who don’t believe in preventative pharmaceutical use] are connected in having an agenda against science…. is nonsensical to me.

Hiring government professionals to represent us, apparently

Are we still referring to “left-center-right” positioning?  Whatever the definitions are for the motives behind each categorical “-ism” on the mythical scale is so skewed and individually interpreted anyway, that it doesn’t make sense to refer left and right anymore.  In fact, adhering to this binary illusion only limits our perception of what has happened, and what is possible.    Abandoning this language in favour of simple truths is what I strive to spread around. In fact, why not try to use unconventional language to re-frame and better define what the hell we’re all talking about here? The only consequence is education and understanding.

So, it’s as simple as this: conscious evolution VS. destruction. Period. Enough time has gone by. Now is when this massive shift has to occur.

Does democracy sound good? Do we want to achieve a functioning democracy? Because what we’ve had so far is deep-rooted disgusting plutocracy.  And let’s not forget the (plutocratic government-funded) CBC provides just enough satire and tidbit “information” to create the illusion and reinforce the myths that make it seem like what we have is working.

I look at it this way: if a government professional is forced to vote the same as her party leader, instead of acting on behalf of the people who voted her in, that is not democracy. As we’ve seen happen in the case of the NDP,  she cannot even voice criticism towards outrageous warring (like in Isreal)!  No. This is not for me. Any party that upholds practices like that, are obviously only interested in upholding the plutocracy that is ruining everything for everyone…everywhere.

Last night I watched a great documentary by Tom Shadyac, the guy behind Ace Ventura, Evan Almighty, the Nutty Professor, and other huge hollywood movies.  The movie included lots of cool behind the scenes shots from his life with movie stars, and also included lots of great interviews with names like Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. It’s called I Am and it’s on Canadian Netflix now.  It’s worth a watch.
